Why choose
SMP at HM?
Scalp Micropigmentation is not a hair growth therapy but a permanent visual solution. The result is immediately visible, fully custom-made and suitable for every type and degree of hair loss.
The difference is noticeable after the very first session. You don’t have to wait weeks for an effect that builds up gradually. SMP delivers a fuller, denser and more groomed appearance right away, with no in-between period.
Most patients are done after two to three sessions. No months-long courses, no waiting periods and no dependence on follow-up treatments to maintain the result. The final result is permanent.
Whether you have thinning hair or are completely bald, SMP offers a fitting solution for every stage. Even in advanced baldness where no hair remains, SMP creates a convincing and natural-looking hairline.
SMP is particularly effective for camouflaging scars from FUT or FUE hair transplants. The pigment dots are seamlessly blended around existing marks so they fully merge into the hairline pattern.
After the treatment you don’t need any special shampoos, supplements or periodic injections. The result holds well for years and only requires simple protection against intense sun exposure to preserve the colour optimally.
Every hairline is unique and is hand-designed by our specialist based on your facial structure, skin tone and personal wishes. The result is never generic but always a hairline that fits you precisely.
Visibly confident.
No surgery, no recovery.
SMP is neither a tattoo nor a hair transplant. It is a medical precision technique in which pigment is applied point by point into the skin at the exact depth where hair follicles sit. The result: a dense, natural hairline that looks convincing at every distance.
During the intake consultation, we determine the shape and height of your new hairline together. We take into account your face shape, age and natural hair growth direction. Nothing is applied without your full approval.
Using specialised micro needles, pigment is applied at precisely the right depth in the skin. Each pigment dot mimics a closely shaved hair follicle. The colour is custom-blended based on your skin tone and the desired density.
A full result is built up over two to three sessions. Each session refines the coverage and deepens the colour. By working in layers, the final result remains subtle, true-to-depth and completely natural up close.

From first session to
lasting results
SMP is a gradual process. Each session adds layer upon layer until the result looks completely natural. Here is what you can expect.
Intake and hairline design
During the free intake consultation, the specialist assesses your scalp, skin tone and the desired treatment areas. Together, the shape and height of your new hairline are determined, fully tailored to your facial structure and age. Nothing is applied without your complete approval.
Laying the foundation
In the first session, the overall structure of the treatment is applied. The hairline is defined and the first pigment layer is carefully built up. The treatment takes two to four hours depending on the number of zones. You leave the clinic with an immediately visible result and no recovery period.
Deepening and refinement
After a week, the skin has absorbed the first pigment layer and the base is fully healed. In the second session, colour depth and density are further built up. The specialist refines the transitions and adds nuance where needed. The result now begins to look convincing and complete.
Tailored finishing
The third session is the definitive finishing touch. Any areas where the pigmentation has faded slightly are touched up and overall evenness is checked. After this session, the result is complete and long-lasting. Most clients require no further treatment after three sessions.
Long-lasting results with minimal maintenance
SMP is one of the most durable cosmetic treatments available. The pigment remains fully intact for an average of three to five years. After that, a light touch-up session may be sufficient to refresh the colour. No daily maintenance, no products, no procedures — just a result that speaks for itself.

Everything about scalp micropigmentation
Honest answers to the questions you probably have before making a decision.
What exactly is scalp micropigmentation and how does it differ from a tattoo?
Scalp micropigmentation is a medical precision technique in which pigment is applied to the upper layer of the scalp to replicate the visual impression of hair follicles. The result is an even, dense appearance that looks like a closely shaved head or a fuller hairline.
The key difference from a regular tattoo lies in the depth, the tools and the pigment. With a tattoo, ink is applied deeper into the skin using a needle bundle designed for large surface areas. With scalp micropigmentation, specialised micro-needles are used at a far more precise depth, specifically calibrated to the thickness of the scalp. The pigment is also formulated differently: it is designed to retain its colour without the blue or green discolouration that ink can develop over time.
The end result is therefore indistinguishable from a naturally shaved head, both up close and from a distance.
Who is scalp micropigmentation suitable for?
Scalp micropigmentation is suitable for men and women with various forms of hair loss. The treatment is most commonly requested for hereditary baldness, thinning hair, a receding hairline and the camouflage of scars following a hair transplant. SMP can also make a profoundly positive difference in cases of alopecia areata or other forms of localised hair loss.
For men who are completely bald, SMP offers the possibility of creating a convincing shaved-head appearance. For men and women with thinning hair, SMP makes the scalp less visible by visually filling in the spaces between the hairs.
SMP is less suitable for people with a very light or pink skin tone combined with an atypical pigment sensitivity, or in cases of active skin conditions in the treatment area. During the consultation we assess whether the treatment is appropriate for you and what result is realistic.
Does the result look natural up close as well?
Yes, provided the treatment is carried out by a skilled professional. A well-executed scalp micropigmentation is indistinguishable from a shaved head or a thickened hair surface even at close range. The secret lies in the size, irregularity and placement of the individual pigment dots. They are not placed in a pattern but distributed randomly, exactly as real hair follicles appear in the skin.
The colour is also mixed to measure based on your skin tone and the desired density. A pigment that is too dark or applied too evenly will look unnatural. At HM we work exclusively with specialists who have years of experience in colour mixing and placement techniques that replicate depth and texture.
We always recommend viewing results in daylight and at close range before making a decision. Our portfolio will be ready for you during the consultation.
Is the treatment painful?
Most clients describe the sensation as a light stinging or scratching feeling, similar to a tattoo but less intense. The scalp is generally less sensitive than other parts of the body. Most people go through the session comfortably without anaesthetic.
For clients who are more sensitive or for whom longer sessions apply, a numbing cream can be applied before the treatment. This significantly reduces sensitivity without affecting the result.
After the treatment the scalp may feel slightly sensitive and temporary redness can occur. This subsides within a few hours. There are no wounds, bleeding or a recovery period that limits your daily activities.
How long does the result last and what maintenance is required?
A well-executed scalp micropigmentation remains fully intact for an average of three to five years. Over time the colour may fade slightly due to UV exposure and the skin’s natural cell renewal. A light touch-up session is then sufficient to fully refresh the result.
There is no daily maintenance. You do not need to use special products and there are no restrictions on activities. We do recommend protecting the treated skin from intensive sun and chlorine exposure during the first two weeks so that the pigmentation can bond optimally.
In the long term SMP is one of the most cost-effective solutions for baldness. No monthly products, no repeated injections and no medical follow-up treatment are required. A single course of two to three sessions gives you years of results.
Can scalp micropigmentation be combined with a hair transplant?
Yes, and this combination is regularly applied at HM with excellent results. After a hair transplant there may be areas where the hair growth has not turned out as dense as desired, or where the donor zone has left a visible scar. Scalp micropigmentation fills those areas visually and gives the final result an even, complete appearance.
In that case SMP is applied after the transplanted hairs have fully grown in, typically twelve months after the procedure. This ensures that we can match the pigment precisely to the colour and density of the existing hair.
Camouflaging FUE or FUT scars in the donor zone is also a frequently requested application. The pigment dots are applied in and around the scar, making it barely visible even with a short or shaved head. We are happy to discuss the possibilities with you during a consultation.
What makes scalp micropigmentation at HM different from elsewhere?
The difference lies in three things: craftsmanship, pigment quality and honesty. Scalp micropigmentation is now offered by an increasing number of providers, but quality varies considerably. An inexperienced hand, the wrong pigment or a hairline that does not suit your facial structure produces a result that attracts attention rather than convincing.
At HM every treatment is carried out by a specialist with years of experience specifically in scalp pigmentation. We work with certified pigments developed for the unique characteristics of the scalp and tested for colour stability over the long term.
Transparency is not a marketing term for us but a way of working. You will always receive honest advice about what SMP can and cannot do for you. If a different treatment is better suited to your situation, we will say so. Our goal is a result you will be satisfied with for years to come, not a quick sale.
